Unexploded Ordnance & Revetment
The MRP System portable shield blocks provide units of the military with a cost-effective means of securing a site with unexploded ordnance. The blocks also have an effective application with the deployment of troops and the establishment of temporary revetment structures.
Unexploded Ordnance
Units
of military organisations are often called to manage and disarm unexploded
ordnance. One of the first orders of business is to secure the setting in
the event of unplanned detonation. Sand bags, while effective for the
purpose, are labor intensive. The MRP Systems portable shield blocks can
be erected around the ordnance with a minimum commitment of manpower and
equipment. Once filled with water, they provide an effective primary blast
barrier. The thickness, combining water and polyethylene, is approximately
0.5 metre. If the situation requires a temporary roof, this can be erected
on top of the blocks. When the scene is secured, the blocks can be drained
and returned to storage.
Revetment
Some units of military organisations must maintain readiness for field deployment. One initial task is to establish structures that are protective of critical systems. Traditional revetment systems are labour intensive to install and extremely difficult to move to another field location. The MRP Systems portable shield blocks can be rapidly and cost-effectively deployed to provide equivalent protection for critical systems. Once filled with water or sand, they provide 0.5 metre of protection for these systems. Field repairs can be done rapidly with ordinary caulking products. Permanent repairs can be done at the storage location by welding new material in locations that may have been penetrated in field use.
